Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Nope, it's the fresh new look of Hänt.se, Sweden's top celebrity news magazine. I have given the site a major makeover, with a bold new style we call the Tabloid Look.

As part of this transformation, I've created a design system that makes it easy for editors to create unique news teasers with attention-grabbing headlines and vibrant colors. This gives them the tools to create engaging content that keeps readers coming back for more.

The news teaser design system empowers editors with the freedom to create exciting teasers that are unique and distinct from each other. This allows them to experiment and compare different teasers to determine which ones are most effective. Here are some examples of the teasers in action.

In addition to revamping the front page, I also ensured that other parts of the site were updated to create a more cohesive and streamlined design. This involved the creation of various components, such as news tickers and "read more" teasers, to ensure consistency throughout the site. The aim was to achieve a cleaner and more polished look that enhances the overall user experience.

Graphical elements used on site

The site is designed with optimized scrolling and browsing in mind. After finishing an article, users will be greeted with the bold and visually appealing front page, encouraging them to continue exploring the content further. This seamless transition enhances the user experience and keeps them engaged with the site's content in a captivating manner.

As part of the site redesign, a new section dedicated to news content was introduced, featuring more traditional news compared to the celebrity section. However, integrating these two distinct types of content posed a challenge in terms of coexistence. To address this, a header with a tab system was implemented, allowing users to easily switch between the two sections. This approach was validated by extensive user testing and feedback from user groups.

The outcome of this process resulted in two distinct brands coexisting harmoniously on the site, offering both traditional news and celebrity news without requiring users to leave the site. This seamless integration of diverse content types provides a user-friendly experience and enables visitors to access their preferred content effortlessly.
